Dermal fillers are ideal for replacing lost volume in the face, and for the treatment of frown lines, marionette lines, the side of the mouth (nasolabial folds), the small vertical lines (Pin Code) on the upper lip, chin augmentation, cheeks. Fillers are also perfect for boosting lip areas where shape and definition have been lost, or for those who would like fuller lips.
While dermal fillers are casually known as “wrinkle fillers,” they can do much more than just smooth out wrinkles! Here are a few of the common issues dermal fillers can help address:
- Smooth out lines around the nose and mouth (a.k.a. marionette lines, smile lines, and parentheses)
- Enhance/restore volume in your cheeks
- Diminish vertical lip lines (Smoker’s lines)
- Plump & enhance the lips
- Smooth out a chin crease
- Improve symmetry among facial features
The main premise of Aesthetic Medicine nowadays is to keep the client as safe as possible by using products containing naturally derived substances only.
The safest fillers on the market are made with Hyaluronic Acid (HA).The highest concentrations of HA (Hyaluronic Acid) in the human body are found in the fluid of the eyes and joints. The substance is widely distributed throughout connective, epithelial and neural tissues and helps keep the skin plump and hydrated.
There are hundreds of HA Dermal Fillers on the market but only a few of them are clinically certified. To guarantee the safety of our client, we only use FDA* certified fillers.
*FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approval is based on the review of data collected from controlled clinical studies and evaluated on the basis of safety and effectiveness of the products.
Dermal filler injections are non-surgical and typically completed during one visit. Your initial treatment will begin with a consultation, during which you will meet with your practitioner to discuss your concerns and goals.
Pre-treatment consultation
During your consultation, your practitioner will evaluate your area of concern and review your medical history. While the risks associated with dermal fillers are minimal, you need to fully disclose your medical history prior to treatment, as certain allergies, skin and neurological conditions, or medications can jeopardize your safety or results.
For instance, you need to tell your therapist if you have been taking NSAIDs (e.g., aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen) or blood thinners, as these increase the likelihood of bruising.
Prior to injection, the skin is disinfected and you may be given a topical anaesthetic to numb the area. Many fillers also contain lidocaine – a mild anaesthetic, which is intended to help minimize discomfort during and after your treatment. The therapist will then inject a precise amount of filler strategically beneath the skin.
Depending on the product and the areas treated, you should be able to notice results immediately after injection. Some clients experience mild bruising and swelling, but these are temporary and should subside over the days following the treatment.
Treatment takes approx.1h.
